Why are my emails not sending or landing in spam?

Have you heard from a recipient that they didn't receive your email, or that it landed in their spam folder?

There are many reasons an email may not reach the recipient or may go to spam. On the technical side of things, Webador ensures that your mailbox is set up to work as intended and your emails can be marked as safe and sent via our email server. This is often a difficult issue to resolve and can happen seemingly without reason, however it may be due to the content of the email.

We recommend using the mail-tester.com service to find out why your sent emails may be marked as spam. This service gives your email a "spam score", which includes information you can use to rectify any issues in the email that may be prevent it from being sent, such as a configuration issue if you're using a third-party service. Following these steps increases the chance your email will be received.

There are also some other general things to keep in mind when it comes to ensuring your emails reach their recipients:

  • Use a clear and unambiguous subject line
  • Ask recipients to add you to their address book (this not only helps them receive your emails, it also increases your chances of succesfully reaching other users of the same email provider)
  • Make sure your email contains enough text and not too many images
  • Don't send too many emails at once (if you need to send an email out to a lot of recipients, do it in smaller batches)
  • Don't use colors, or text in all capital letters, and avoid double exclamation marks
  • Don't insert or attach large image files
  • Only send emails to valid email addresses that you know exist
