How to re-design an existing website

Have you started a new business or project that you want to use your existing subscription for? An active subscription is considered a binding digital contract, which means we’re unable to transfer an existing subscription from one site to another.

However, there are two ways you can re-design and re-name your website, which we’ll explain in this article.

Re-design an existing website

Step 1

If you want to use a different template for your new website, go to the Design tab and select it. You can also customize your color scheme and text formatting now, if necessary.

Step 2

Go to Settings > General and in the Website name field, enter the name of your new business or project.

Step 3

Go to the Pages tab and delete all pages except the homepage.

Step 4

On the Pages tab, click on the +New page button to create a new page, and title it “Home1”.

Step 5

Click on the page name to enter the Editor and create your new homepage one of two ways:

  • Start with a blank page: Choose this option to start with a blank canvas and then use the tools in the panel on the left to build your page.
  • Use the AI page generator: Choose this option and follow the steps to have our AI page builder generate the page for you.

Step 6

Go back to the Pages tab, move the Home1 page up into the homepage slot at the top, and delete the old homepage. Then go to the page settings and change “Home1” to “Home”.

Step 7

Use the +Add page button to add any other pages you want on your new website, and follow step 3 above to build each page.

Step 8

Once you’ve finished building your website, you can change the domain name.

Step 9

If you’re using Webador Pro or Business, link your website to Google Search Console and optimize it for search engines.

Create a new website

Step 1

Build your new website using our free service. When prompted to choose a plan, select the Free option, and at the domain name registration step, click on Later to skip that.

Step 2

On the old website, go to the Pages tab and delete all pages except the homepage. Rename the homepage “Home0”

Step 3

Still on the old website, go to the Design tab and select the same template, color scheme, and text formatting that you’ve used for your new website.

Step 4

Go back to the new website and go to the Pages tab. Alongside the homepage, click on the Duplicate button and, in the drop-down, select the name of your old website.

Step 5

When the duplication is complete, you’ll land on the Pages tab of your old website. Go back to the Pages tab on your new website and repeat step 4 for each page.

Note: Remember to go back to the new website’s Pages tab after each page has finished duplicating.

Step 6

Once all the new pages are duplicated, go to the Pages tab on your old website and move the new homepage up into the homepage slot. Then delete the page titled “Home0”.

Step 7

Go to Settings > General and in the Website name field, enter the name of your new business or project.

Step 8

When you’ve finished duplicating the pages over and changing the website name, you can change the domain name.

Step 9

If you’re using Webador Pro or Business, link your website to Google Search Console and optimize it for search engines.
