Can I change my domain name?

Domain name costs are incurred at registration, which means existing domain names can't be changed free of charge. However, if you want to use another domain name, you can register an extra one.

Once your new domain name is online and in use, we can remove the old domain for you. If you do this within a year, you'll only have to pay the registration fee once, rather than annually. Please see the FAQ on our pricing page for more information about the costs for registering an extra domain name.

An advantage of this option is that any visitors using your old domain name will be automatically redirected to the new one. So you won't lose any traffic, and your visitors will have time to get used to your new domain.

If you'd like to register an extra domain name, please follow the steps in this article: Register a domain name. Once you've registered the domain, contact us at support@webador.com to request removal of the old one.

You can change your domain name yourself:

Step 1: Create an extra domain name

The extra domain name can be registered in the same way as previous domain names via your My Subscription page. In the article "Register a domain" name you can read step by step how to add a domain name.

Step 2: Make the additional domain name the "Primary" domain name

This is an important step to ensure that you can cancel your old domain name. The article "Can I change the active domain name?" explains how to change the active or primary domain name.

Step 3: Cancel the included/old domain name

Once the new domain name is online and known to everyone, you can cancel the old domain name. So if you do that within a year, you only pay once and not on an annual basis.

Go to My Sites and click on the appropriate subscription page by clicking on the red label. Click on Manage domains to cancel the old domain name. Click on the button with the 3 dots to the right of your old domain name. Then click on Cancel.

Your domain name has been changed!

The old included domain name will not be renewed as of the next renewal. It will still be available until then. The new domain name will appear in your subscription as "included domain name" after that date.

Note: Make sure you delete the old domain name in time, within one year after purchasing the extra domain name. If you're unable to do this yourself, you can always send an email to support@webador.com.

Note: The new domain name will be listed in your subscription as "Additional domain name" until the next renewal date. When you cancel the old domain name it will be automatically converted so you won't have to pay yearly but only once.
