How do I delete my website?

Considering deleting your Webador website? We understand sometimes plans change, and you might be thinking about closing up your online space. Before you make that decision, we want to make sure you're fully informed and see if there might be a better way forward for you!

Deleting your website is a pretty big step. It’s like closing the door completely. Everything you've built – your pages, pictures, blog posts, products are gone. There's no "undo" button, so taking a moment to consider other options could be really worthwhile.

Think about these super useful alternatives:

  • Put your website in offline mode: This is like putting a "closed" sign on your door temporarily. Your website becomes invisible to visitors, but all your content stays safe and sound in your Webador account. You can easily bring it back online whenever you're ready. This is perfect if you're just taking a break, redesigning, or rethinking your online strategy.

  • Downgrade your plan: If your main concern is cost, deleting your site might seem like the only way to save. But guess what? Webador offers different plans to fit different needs! Downgrading to a smaller, more affordable plan can significantly reduce your monthly costs while still keeping your website active (even if with fewer features, depending on the plan). This way, you maintain your online presence and can always upgrade again later!

  • Keep it for Future Ideas! You Never Know: You've already invested time and effort in building your website! Even if you're not actively using it right now, having it tucked away in your account means it's there for future projects, new ideas, or even just as a backup. You might be surprised how handy it can be to have that foundation ready to go.

But how do you delete a website?

If your website has a paid subscription, you'll need to cancel the subscription first.

Step 1

To delete your website, start by logging in.

Step 2

Go to My Account (this can be accessed via the menu at the top of the My Sites page).

Step 3

Click on Delete in the menu on the left.

Please note, if you click on delete, you do not immediately delete your entire account.

Step 4

On this page, you see an overview of your website(s) and which ones you can or cannot delete. Behind the website that can be deleted, you will see a red button with "Delete website". With that button, you can delete the website in question.

Note that you can only delete your account once you have deleted all the websites you own.

ℹ️ Important: Deleting a website will also delete all of its content (e.g. images and text). Deleted websites cannot be restored.
