Before you start building your website, it's important to know all the different parts that make up a website and what their functions are. A typical website consists of:
- A title/logo, such as the name of your business or your company logo.
- A menu, which your visitors can use to navigate your website.
- A banner (the large image at the top of your page), which can be supplemented with text. You can show or hide banners per page.
- Content, such as text, images, and forms. You can use elements to add content to your website.
- A footer, or the bottom section of your website, which usually contains information such as contact details and social media links.
In the Webador Editor, you'll find all the elements you can use to build your website. Simply drag the element you want from the menu on the left and drop it in place on your page. Once you've placed an element on your site, click on the element to start customizing.
When dragging and dropping elements, keep an eye on the blue line that appears on the page. This line indicates where the element will be placed when you release it.
This way, you can easily place elements above, underneath, or alongside each other, and even create columns.
To remove an element from your website, move the mouse cursor over the element until a blue border appears around it. Click on the cross in the top right corner of the element to remove it.
In the top left corner of the Editor, you'll find four more options that will come in handy.
- Click on the preview icon to see a preview of your website.
- Click on the gear icon to change the settings of the current page.
- Click on the mobile icon to preview how your website looks on mobile.
The Editor automatically saves all changes almost immediately. If you're unsure whether something has been saved, look for the green check mark.
While you're building your website, it will remain unpublished and therefore unavailable to viewers. We'll explain how to publish your website in a later article.
